Employee Spotlights

Employee Spotlight: Gabi Kelly

This installment of the Maia employee spotlight is showcasing Gabi Kelly. Gabi has a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Washington State University and is a Project Coordinator with focus on BIM at Maia!

When did you join Maia and what made you join?

I joined Maia in 2021 after recently graduating from college. A previous co-worker from college told me about Maia while he was working for the company. I knew I had to join after learning what he loved about the company and the great work being done!

What is your favorite aspect of Maia?

My favorite aspect of the company is all the unique personalities in the team. The ability to work remote has drawn in team members from across the country. We all come with different life and professional experiences. This has created a dynamic and interesting work environment that I look forward to every day!

What are some of your personal hobbies?

I love going to concerts and am a huge fangirl at heart. Thrifting, fashion, home DIY projects, and anything crafty are also big passions of mine. I often find starting a new project is much more fun than finishing one. This has left me with a lot of half-finished crafts though. I am also a dog-mom to my French Bulldog. I love to take him on walks, play with him, and show him off. He is simply the cutest!

What is your favorite part of medical equipment planning and do you have a favorite project you have worked on as of yet?

My favorite part of medical equipment planning is the construction document phase. Executing final adjustments on the drawings and seeing how the space will fully function for the users gets me excited.

Why do you think medical equipment planning is important?

Medical equipment planning is important because it provides a seamless connection between vendor and architect. Equipment planners are specialists who have detailed knowledge about every piece of equipment in a project, where it needs to be places, and its unique requirements. This information streamlines the entire design and construction process. This creates the opportunity for a hospital to be designed as best as possible for its patients.

This week showcased our amazing BIM Coordinator but check back in two weeks to hear from Atabong Fonkeng, BIM Manager. Gabi and Atabong work alongside each other, ensuring the quality of our models are top notch!
